Like all conservation easement holders, the Clarke County Conservation Easement Authority wants to ensure easement property landowners are continuing to follow the rules to which they agreed. We do this by visiting properties annually to make sure the land is properly protected and documenting the visits. We look for such items as new development that doesn’t work within the easement parameters.

If we find an issue, we typically can resolve it through a conversation with the landowner. If a landowner refuses to remedy a situation, unfortunately we may be forced to take legal action to continue to uphold the easement agreement and protect the open space.
